LADIES AUXILIARY OKLAHOMA SOCIETY

SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

(LAOKSSAR)

Purpose

To maintain a nonprofit association of women interested in the objectives and activities of the Oklahoma State and National Society Sons of the American Revolution.

Objective

To carry out the SAR mission of inspiring patriotism and informing others of the contributions of our Revolutionary War Ancestors.   To assist OKSSAR in its promotion of membership and support OKSSAR objectives as listed in their Bylaws.

Membership Requirements

Membership in the Oklahoma Ladies Auxiliary is open to all natal women who wish to support SAR and its mission.  A woman may join the LAOKSSAR by completion of the membership application form and payment of dues.  

Dues

Annual Dues for LAOKSSAR are $5 or $50 for lifetime membership.  Members of LAOKSSAR are considered members of the National Ladies Auxiliary (NLASAR) without further payment of dues.

Meetings

The LAOKSSAR conducts two regular member meetings each year: one at the OKSSAR Annual Conference in the spring and one in the fall.  Additional NLA meetings are held at the South-Central District SAR meeting, the NLASAR Fall Leadership, the NLASAR Spring Leadership and the SAR annual Congress. These meetings are held in accordance with Robert’s Rule of Order.  The purpose of each meeting is to report on activities and finances as well as provide an opportunity for social interaction and to hear from its membership.

Fundraising

In support of the SAR programs, the ladies engage in fundraising activities at OKSSAR Events, National SAR Leadership and Congress events.  These activities include opportunity drawings and silent auction of donated items.  All ladies are invited to donate an item(s) for these events.

Activities

In addition to attending Oklahoma SAR activities, ladies are invited to attend NLASAR general meetings which include a speaker, the ladies are invited to attend the National ladies’ luncheon which includes either a guest speaker or a tour activity.
